The Biscuit Factory

From the 4th of September until the 12th of October, I shall be exhibiting two large drawings at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle for their "Selected Graduates" Exhibition. I have carried on the 'Old Hollywood' Glamour theme again for these two works, as the era greatly interests me and I feel there is so much more I can advance with using this theatrical subject matter.

Degree Show Work

I based my Degree Show work on the theme of 'Old Hollywood Glamour' and therefore dressed my models in vintage clothing and with the use of black and white photography, i could really capture the essence from this era. With the inspiration from the Great Hollywood photographers of that time, such as George Hurrell, Cecil Beaton and Edward Steichen, I worked towards re-creating this flawless image of natural beauty.

For creating my images i use different grades of graphite pencil and different purities of graphite powder. I love working with graphite as you can create striking yet highly subtle effects. With the use of brushes i can blend this graphite powder into my acrylic primed boards to achieve an image that reflects upon this flawless complexion.
